Nobody knows the real reason Jeff Bezos bought Whole Foods. But that shouldn’t stop a guy from writing about it!
It’s fascinating. I’ve heard a significant percentage of Whole Foods customers are also Amazon Prime members. If that’s true Amazon now has 431 new locations close to many of their best customers.
Although I feel like the old Dave talking to Roy Scheider’s character, Dr. Floyd, in 2001: Something’s going to happen. What, what’s going to happen? Something wonderful.
That’s all we got in the movie and that’s all we’re left with right now. But the message for all of us is the same message to everyone in the grocery business: your world is changing.
What, what’s going to happen? Something wonderful.
That was the same message delivered to stock brokers, travel agents, newspapers, video and book store workers and on and on and on. And today, to you and to marketing consultants. To everyone.
Pay attention. Evolve with change. It’s not your enemy. It’s not your friend, either. It’s just what’s happening. A great read is Jeff Bezos’ letter to investors written in April, before their purchase was announced, but well into the process. He talks about surfing the wave of change (and not letting it drown you).
